Human Maintenance LLC is focused on training to maintain the human body and mind in a modern word that slowly breaks us down.  Humans need to apply forces to the body to cause positive response within. We use contrast therapy (mobile sauna with cold exposure experiences) to improve internally and mobility training to force adaptation in our joints to improve our freedom to move.

Contrast therapy (ice baths 35-55F and mobile sauna 180-200F) promotes physical and mental recovery from intense training, work/life stress, and modern life. Training mental resilience and learning to control emotional stress response can transcend outside of the sessions and provide useful tools when facing stress in daily life.  We are the only mobile sauna and cold water exposure in Kalamazoo Area!

Human Maintenance Training has been created to help people get out of pain, improve whole human health, and find great enjoyment through maintaining your body.  My extensive injury list (12 broken bones- three surgeries) and active life has resulted in years of chronic pain in my back, neck, shoulder, and hips.  My worst days have resulted in knowledge I need to share and help others learn human maintenance skills. I have spent years and thousands of dollars learning about pain and working on my body to improve my ability to be productive and happy. I have tried every solution from surgery, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, Rolfing, myofascial release, foam rolling, and yoga but nothing  worked like focused mobility and durability training to improve my joints. It takes time and effort but the focus and intent will drive the response.

After years of dedicated practice, consistent movement, healthy habits, and specific joint focused training has improved my joint pain and capacity to move freely.  I am much happier and am able to enjoy nearly any activity life can throw at me. Training my joints, improving my durability, and using the sauna is a training program that improves my life.

A long lasting hip injury combined with chronic low back pain from a herniated disc guided me to Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), joint health focused training system and a new way of thinking.  This type of training values the quality of the workspace in your joints and tissues to build the foundation of your bodies movement system.  Training to increase the capacity of your joints improves the health of the tissues controlling the moving parts of you and your awareness of them. Healthy joints will allow you to move and enjoy life to the fullest. We train for internal results  first to improve the physical ability of the human.  You have to learn to stimulate your human body's natural response mechanisms to maintain your health.  The old statement "if you don't use it, you lose it" is so true.

Sauna

"Degrees of Freedom" is the name of the mobile suana.  I built it in a horse trailer to make it mobile and unique.  The heat will push every one to a place where your body intersects your mind and complete presence is found.  Available for rent at retreats, family gatherings, and pop-up events.

Mobility

Mobility is the main focus of Human Maintenance Training. The practice is built on continually improving the joints and your ability to use them. Mobility training makes you better internally and allows you to control yourself.

Durability

Building a body that is resilient, stable and balanced requires focused training.  Durability training is all about the long game and being ready to do anything in life for longer. We train for resilience because we have goals to be happy and healthy when we are 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 years old.
